Traditional Chinese Medicine
An Ancient Healing Modality
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): a complete medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses for more than 2,000 years. It is an alternative medicine based on a belief in regulating yin and yang in the organ systems (meridians), defined as opposing energies, such as earth and heaven, winter and summer, and happiness and sadness. The basic concept is that Qi (a vital life force) surges through the body and any imbalance to this Qi can cause disease and illness. This imbalance is most commonly thought to be caused by an alteration in yin and yang. Ancient Chinese believed that humans are microcosms of the larger surrounding universe, and are interconnected with nature and subject to its forces. Balance between health and disease is a key concept. TCM treatment seeks to restore this balance through treatment specific to the individual. It is believed that to regain balance, you must achieve the balance between the internal body organs and the external elements of earth, fire, water, wood, and metal. Techniques such as Acupuncture/Acupressure, Cupping, Myofascial holds/pulls, and Spinal cord adjustments are used.

An alternative medicine where bloodwork and objective testing will be evaluated and the specific nutrition, herbs, or supplementation will be chosen to best complement the body to restore balance. This is a Traditional Chinese Medicine modality which involves the insertion of very fine needles into one or several of the 361 classical acupoints (superficial locations on the surface of the body) to "reset" nerve transmission, relieve pressure, regain the flow of Qi, and target specific organs or pain problems. This can be used in conjunction with other alternative therapies. It takes into account the whole person and helps activate each patient’s natural healing processes as well as restoring their physical and emotional well-being.

These are the holding or pulling techniques used for fascia (the web of soft tissue that surrounds muscle, bones, organs and other body structures like a pull and tug mechanism). It is effective because the same external fascial lines that are “tense” or cause “knots” on the surface of the body also correlate and correspond to the tension being held in an organ or organ system. This assists the body’s ability to heal the external and the internal simultaneously. This can be used in conjunction with other alternative therapies. It takes into account the whole person and helps activate each patient’s natural healing processes as well as restoring their physical and emotional well-being.
Cupping

This ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine technique uses warmed glass jars to create suction on certain points of the body to pull blood stagnation, inflammation, toxins etc to the surface so the body can discard, circulate and regulate.This is a hands-on body treatment that leaves patients feeling relaxed and renewed. I love showing my patients how just a few treatments can make an enormous difference to their health.

This is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine modality in which a quick controlled, micro force is applied to one or several spinal cord junctions. This may feel like a small fast touch and is affecting the Qi and nervous system flow which is very sensitive and specific. This procedure improves spinal cord flow, as well as spinal motion and the body's organ and physical function.
